"If you build it, they will come." We all have our own Field of Dreams, whether it's a tiny house, a garden shed, or an off-grid ecohome. Learning the basics of construction, from the ground up is a skill that pays dividends throughout life. We don't expect our students to have any experience or even a clue where to start, that's what our Instructors are for. Our construction classes work in collaboration with our Intro to Tools and specialized electives, building on students newly acquired knowledge, to help them grow their skills and abilities.
Each program, students will work on a specific construction project for the whole semester. Additional elective classes will expand on specific areas of construction like solar installation and plumbing. Students will have an opportunity to see several types of construction on campus and in different stages of completion, work with a wide range of new and recycled materials and learn about the engineering that goes into alternative building practices that prioritize sustainability and address environmental concerns.
Our extensive list of construction related courses can be found on our curriculum list.
